Rotary Biogas for Nakuru Project Update July 2026

Transforming lives, One Family at a Time

Construction is now underway on 10 new biogas units, bringing the total number of completed systems to 57. Already, 46 families are using clean, renewable biogas to cook their daily meals, replacing smoky wood fires with a healthier, more sustainable energy source.

Our goal for this stage of the project is 146 biogas units, with an ambitious long-term target of 250 units. Every new installation means another family gains access to safe, affordable energy while helping protect the local environment.

Why Biogas Matters

Each biogas unit delivers lasting benefits:

  • Cleaner air by replacing smoky wood and charcoal fires, improving family health.
  • Less deforestation through reduced demand for firewood.
  • Lower carbon emissions by converting organic waste into renewable energy.
  • More time for families, especially women and children, who no longer spend hours collecting firewood.
  • Natural fertiliser produced as a by-product, supporting local food production.

Help Power the Next Family

There are still 89 units to build in this phase, and every sponsorship brings us closer to our goal. By supporting a biogas unit through Rotary Australia World Community Service (RAWCS), you’ll help another family access clean energy and a healthier future.
